Golf clubs grabbed in $25,000 Hawthorn East burglary

Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after golf equipment was stolen during a burglary in Hawthorn East last week.

Police were told a man smashed a window and forced his way into a store on Tooronga Road about 1am on Monday, 19 December.

Once inside, he didn't have time to practice putting and grabbed as many golf clubs as he could, believed to be worth about $25,000.

Investigators were told the man shoved the clubs into a large sports bag before fleeing the scene on foot.

Investigators have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He was wearing a black hoodie with white on the front and sleeves, blue jeans and black runners.

They are also asking the public to watch out for the equipment being sold online, in the hope it can be located and handed in to police.
