Grants to enhance social connection

Social and community connection plays an important role in a person's overall health and wellbeing.

The Social Connection Grants are now open to help fund social and community projects in Nillumbik.

Grants of $2,000 are available for eligible community groups, not for profit organisations and individuals to apply for, to help reduce isolation, empower, foster harmony and boost the wellbeing of older people.

Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said "supporting our older community members to feel connected and included is really important".

"We want people to be able to age happily and well in Nillumbik, and this grant program is a way of helping to make that happen.

"Our Council Plan outlines Council's commitment to health and wellbeing, social inclusion and connection, with the opportunity for recreation and learning, across all stages and experiences of life," Councillor Ramcharan said.

Funded projects must be completed by Friday 30 June.
