Greens bring Psychedelics to NSW Parliament

Australian Greens

In the inaugural event of a series of Science in the House forums, Greens MP Cate Faehrmann hopes to spark a discussion about the potential benefits of psychedelics used as a treatment for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

Cate Faehrmann will host Martin Williams from Melbourne's PRISM (Psychedelic Research into Science and Medicine) and Vince Polito from Macquarie University's Department of Cognitive Science.

Topics covered will include research into psilocybin, the chemical compound found in magic mushrooms, as a treatment for issues such as depression; MDMA as treatment for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder; and the potential benefits of microdosing.
