Grievous bodily harm, Southport

A 34-year-old Crestmead man has been charged following investigations into the alleged grievous bodily harm of a woman yesterday, and the taking of a child which initiated an Amber Alert.

Police were called to an apartment complex in Como Crescent at Southport shortly after 5pm following reports of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive woman and established a crime scene.

Police will allege a man removed an 11-month-old baby boy from the location prior to officers arriving.

The baby was located safe and well around midnight after being taken to Crestmead Police Station.

The man was arrested in Oxley shortly after 12.30am.

A grey Mazda CX9 has been seized by police as part of ongoing investigations.

A 25-year-old woman taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries remains in a critical condition.

The man has been charged with grievous bodily harm, and strangulation, and had bail opposed to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow (November 29).
