Groen Kennisnet Celebrates 500,000th Knowledge Bank Item

This August Groen Kennisnet added the half-millionth item to its Knowledge Bank. The item is a brochure of the organisation Boerennatuur Vlaanderen (Flanders). The brochure is one of the results of the project 'Climate farmers strengthen ecosystem services'. "We are very proud of this milestone", says Linda van Os (manager Groen Kennisnet). "It is a practical, innovative and overarching research item which appeals to the whole green domain."

The Knowledge Bank of Groen Kennisnet is the largest Dutch collection of up-to-date and reliable knowledge items for the agricultural, food and green domains.

WUR students and researchers can use the Knowledge Bank to stay informed about their field, search for research sources and get acquainted with various professional journals. You can also use our calendar to keep up to date with scheduled webinars, practice and teaching days or other activities in the green sector. With news items per subject area, Groen Kennisnet highlights the latest resources. "You can use filters in the Knowledge Base to search specifically for items in your domain," says Van Os.

The user can filter for one or more sectors, on year, type of learning resources, language and collection. Through the "zoekhulp" (searching help), you can strengthen their searching questions and filters. You can find the "zoekhulp" on the website.

Eight measures to sustain farming

The 500,000th item offers farmers eight measures to sustain their farming and make Belgian agriculture more climate-robust. With this brochure a farmer can choose measures that lead to sustainable water and soil management. Of course, this depends on the soil type a farmer has to work with; from the high sandy soils to the low valley soils. Thus, there is practical advice for everyone, also for Dutch farmers.
