Hanwood Brigade Unveils Indigenous Artwork Installation

Congratulations to the Hanwood Rural Fire Brigade on the unveiling of a striking Indigenous artwork installation on one of its fire trucks.

Created by Wiradjuri woman and long-standing brigade member Natalie Smith, the artwork, Walumali Ngurambang ("Protecting Community"), tells the story of the Hanwood brigade and district working together to protect the community while building strong relationships between the Aboriginal community and the Rural Fire Service.

The artwork now features on the truck's locker panels and will be seen across the region as the vehicle responds to emergencies, attends community events and supports other agencies.

Council's Deputy Mayor Scott Groat attended the unveiling, recognising the important contribution of volunteers and the significance of the artwork.
