Works on the Harley Hammond Reserve Netball Courts and Lighting Upgrade and Play Space Project have now been completed.
The new netball courts are open, while the play space will open on Monday 25 May following completion of final safety inspections.
The project has delivered two new netball courts with competition-compliant lighting alongside a new play space, supporting both organised sport and informal recreation.
The new facilities provide a safe and accessible environment for people of all ages, enhancing opportunities for participation in sport and active recreation across the community.
The project was funded through $967,250 from the Australian Government's Play Our Way Program, with Council contributing an additional $200,000.
Council was one of 290 organisations across Australia to receive funding through the Play Our Way Program, which supports new and improved facilities, participation opportunities and equipment for women and girls in sport.
Mitchell Shire Mayor John Dougall said the project is a positive outcome for the Broadford community.
"The upgrade provides high-quality facilities for our local netball community while also creating a great space for families to come together and be active," he said.
"Projects like this help create more inclusive and accessible opportunities for women and girls to participate in sport, while also delivering facilities the broader community can enjoy.
"The addition of the play space means the reserve now caters for a wider range of users, giving families more reasons to spend time here and stay connected to their local community.
"We thank the Australian Government for their support in making this project possible. It's an investment that will benefit the Broadford community for years to come."
