Hawkesbury Roads Revival - Our Funding Guarantee To You

The logo for Hawkesbury Roads RevivalHawkesbury City Council has identified key projects that will benefit from the $2.9 million in capital raised from the first year of the Special Rate Variation – embarking on a roads-focused improvement program for the benefit of the whole Hawkesbury.

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) recently approved Council's application to raise rates by 8.66% per year for the next four years on the proviso that it be spent exclusively on infrastructure improvements, with a focus on roads projects.

All roads and paths under this funding stream will now be branded as Hawkesbury Roads Revival projects, with on-site signage, providing residents with a clear and transparent way to identify the projects. The community has made it clear over recent years that its number one priority by a large margin is the upkeep and repair of our City's roads.

Council has committed to the following Hawkesbury Roads Revival projects in 2026/27:

  • March Street, Richmond - Paget to Moray Streets - $750,000
  • Crooked Lane, North Richmond - Concrete Bridge to Slopes Road - $640,000
  • Coburg Road, Wilberforce - Macquarie Road to Old Sackville Road - $386,140

Additionally, Council will hold a sum of Hawkesbury Roads Revival money for to-be-determined roads and paths works to allow it to respond to road repair needs as they may arise throughout the year. Council will inform the community of these additional works as they are determined:

  • Road resealing – $500,000 (plus $1 million from Council's capital works budget)
  • Road resheeting – $100,000 (plus $500,000 million from Council's capital works budget)
  • Minor Road Rehabilitation Program – $100,000 (plus $800,000 from Council's capital works budget)
  • Footpath renewal – $80,000 (plus $98,000 from Council's capital works budget)

Additionally, Council will also undertake the following park improvements:

  • Rutherglen Reserve, Hobartville, new playspace - $270,000
  • Laurence Street Reserve, Hobartville, park improvements - $60,000 (plus $410,000 from Council's capital works budget)

These nine commitments total $2.9 million.

This $2.9 million is part of $68.8 million budgeted to improve local roads and drainage, and $48.7 million to upgrade public spaces, parks, sports and recreation facilities. For a full list of commitments, please read the Operational Plan 2026/2027 at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/your-council/corporate-publications

The Hawkesbury Roads Revival program will then expand in each of the coming three years to create a sizable program of road repairs and upgrades in addition to the recurring annual capital works program.
