The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn in Worimi National Park on Tuesday 1 September 2026, weather permitting.
The 23 ha burn, located near Nelson Bay Road and north of Easement Trail, is expected to begin at around 10am and conclude by end of day.
Burning in this area will help reduce the risk and potential impacts of bushfire in the park and protect neighbouring communities.
Smoke may affect the area and people with asthma or other respiratory problems are advised to keep clear of the area or stay indoors, close windows and doors, and follow their health plan.
