The Albanese and Carroll Labor Governments are upgrading roads across Melbourne's south-east.
Major works on the Clyde Road Upgrade have finished - seven months ahead of schedule.
The $277.7 million upgrade, which is fully funded by the Australian Government and delivered by the Victorian Government, will cut bottlenecks and make travel faster and safer for the 30,000 vehicles that use Clyde Road every day.
Finishing works, including final landscaping, lighting, asphalting and line marking, will continue until the end of 2026.
The upgrades include:
- Extra lanes between Bemersyde Drive and Enterprise Avenue, including four extra lanes on the Princes Freeway overpass
- Upgraded freeway ramps with additional lanes
- Upgraded intersection at Clyde Road, Sir Gustav Nossal Boulevard and Kangan Drive with additional lanes and bicycle crossings
- Bus priority infrastructure, including queue-jump lanes, and
- New and upgraded shared walking and cycling paths on both sides of Clyde Road between Bemersyde Drive and Enterprise Avenue.
This is the second major project milestone in the Clyde area, after construction finished last month on the nearby Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road Intersection Upgrade.
This project is part of a significant Labor investment in roads across Melbourne's south-east, including:
- O'Shea Road
- Thompsons Road
- Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road
- Hall Road
- Western Port Highway
- Pakenham Roads Upgrade.
