Health Ministers Issue statement

APEC

Ministers and senior officials responsible for health from APEC member economies issued a joint statement at the conclusion of the 15th APEC High-Level Meeting on Health and the Economy in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

The statement reflects the outcomes of the meeting chaired by Dr Jeong Eun Kyong, Korea's Minister of Health and Welfare.

Ministers acknowledged the challenges posed by demographic shifts in the region and support efforts to promote healthy and active aging.

Recognizing the potential of digital health and artificial intelligence to strengthen prevention, diagnosis, and care delivery, ministers underscored the importance of cooperation to build capacity, ensure interoperability while safeguarding privacy and security, and enhance digital literacy for health workers.

Ministers also support preventive and promotive approaches that ensure access to mental health services for all and encourage economies to scale up this access in community settings.
