Heavy Rainfall Causes Flash Flooding And Road Closures

Heavy rainfall has been recorded overnight Saturday in the mid-lower catchment causing flash flooding and road closures.

Flood mitigation infrastructure has been closed. This includes:

  • Belmore River and Kinchela Creek flood relief gates
  • Belmore River, Kinchela Creek, Christmas Creek, and Euroka Creek crossover gates

The Crescent Head Waste Management Centre is closed due to the closure of Crescent Head Road at Rudders Lagoon.

Bridge status:

  • Bellbrook Bridge is CLOSED
  • Toorooka Bridge will CLOSE shortly
  • Turners Flat Bridge is OPEN but expected to close throughout Sunday.
  • Dungay Creek Causeway is CLOSED
  • Dowlings Falls Causeway is CLOSED

Road status:

  • Crescent Head Road at Rudders Lagoon is CLOSED
  • Gladstone Street Underpass is CLOSED
  • Queen Street at the Causeway IS CLOSED
  • Macleay Valley Way at Sutherlands Lane is CLOSED
  • South West Rocks Road between Red Hill and Austral Eden has water over the road but remains open.

Please do not take unnecessary risks and never drive through flood waters.
