Heightened Police Patrols at Tasmania's Air and Sea Ports This Weekend

Police wish to advise travellers of an increased police presence over this long weekend at Tasmanian airports and seaports.

Travellers are reminded not to be alarmed by an increased presence- we're seeking to test new equipment that is designed to assist with traveller safety and the detection of offences against Tasmanian and Commonwealth laws.

Travellers may expect to see both uniformed and plain clothed police at terminals, as well as detector dogs conducting visible patrols.

Anyone with information about illegal activity is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
