In 2021, the portrait of Helen Octavia Dickens, MD was installed in a new place of honor on the Penn Medicine campus, surrounded by a new, expanded display recognizing the life, career, and legacy of this trailblazing obstetrician/gynecologist. Installed in August and dedicated at a small, private event in early December upon the 20th anniversary of her passing, the prominent portrait is a symbolic reaffirmation of inclusivity at Penn Medicine visible to all who pass through Stemmler Hall.
