Help RSPCA SA Rehome, Not Relocate, Animals

50% off all pet adoptions for next five days ahead of move to new facility

RSPCA South Australia's Lonsdale shelter will close for the last time at the end of this month when the organisation makes the historic move to its new, purpose-built animal care campus at O'Halloran Hill.

The shelter is currently housing 270 animals and, in an effort to reduce this number ahead of the move, the organisation is running a five day adopt or foster campaign, starting tomorrow.

For the next five days, all pet adoption fees have been halved. In addition, every cat and dog adopter will receive a free bag of Royal Canin dry food and rabbit adopters will receive a free bale of oaten hay.

Anyone interested in fostering animals is also encouraged to visit the shelter during the next five days. There will be opportunities to meet RSPCA SA's foster care team and learn how the program works. Some people who have pre-registered online will be able to take animals home to foster on the day.

"Giving a home to one of our animals - whether it's permanent or temporary - will really help us at this busy and exciting time," RSPCA SA CEO Marcus Gehrig said.

"This event also gives people the chance to take one last look at the Lonsdale shelter, which for the past 40-plus years has housed and helped so many animals to have second chances in life."
