Mitchell Shire Council is preparing a draft Climate Emergency Action Plan and would like the community's help to develop a plan that works for Mitchell.
The plan will include actions Council will take to respond to the climate emergency and actions the community can take to build resilience to climate impacts and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as how Council can support the community to do so.
The plan will help set a goal for Mitchell to reach net zero emissions and the steps we need to take to reach that goal.
Climate change is one of the most serious issues facing our planet. It has local impacts that affect our shire's environment, economy and the health and wellbeing of our community which is most evident through the recent flood event in October 2022. We must take action.
