Council is developing an infill housing strategy to cater for the housing needs of a growing population in Queanbeyan.

The Infill Housing Strategy will look at how additional homes can be sensitively integrated into the suburbs of Queanbeyan, Queanbeyan East and Crestwood.

'Queanbeyan is such a great place to live and we continue to grow,' said Mayor Kenrick Winchester.

'This housing strategy is going to look at how we can include different types of housing within these three central suburbs, close to the city's services and facilities.'

'It will also look at the infrastructure and amenities that will be required if we were to increase density, such as roads, green space and play areas, and community facilities.'

'We are having an in-person session where we are asking for your help to shape the strategy, so that it reflects what we need Queanbeyan to be like in the future.'

Come along on Monday 25 May 2026 from 6pm to 8pm to be involved in the discussion to help shape future well-planned infill development. Please register your attendance through our Your Voice page at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au/infill-housing-strategy-engagement-session.

Those unable to attend in person can provide feedback through a survey available on the website.

The strategy will consider how Council can plan for diverse housing including townhouses, apartments, duplexes and mixed-use developments. The strategy will inform future planning such as rezonings, lot sizes, housing typologies and infrastructure planning to ensure the required amenities keep pace with the growth.
