Georges River Council is inviting the community to have its say on plans for an upgraded playspace at Pole Depot Park, Penshurst.
Council plans to replace the park's two smaller playspaces with one upgraded, modern play area. This new space will better serve local children and families.
Pole Depot Park currently contains two playspaces located on opposite sides of the park, separated by a Council-owned community facility. One of these playspaces has been closed due to the age of the equipment and associated safety concerns.
As part of the consultation, residents are invited to nominate their preferred location for the upgraded playspace, either on the Forest Road side or the St Georges Road side of the park. The community is also encouraged to share ideas and feedback to help shape the design of the new facility.
The upgraded playspace will offer more play options. It will include features that are inclusive and accessible. There will be equipment for various age groups, plus better seating and shade.
The location not selected for the playspace will remain public open space and be enhanced for recreation and relaxation. Potential improvements may include outdoor fitness equipment, additional seating, landscaping with new trees and planting, pathways, and spaces that encourage social interaction and informal exercise.
Mayor Elise Borg said, "Pole Depot Park is a valued local park and we want to create a playspace that reflects the needs of our community."
"We encourage everyone who uses the park to tell us where the upgraded playspace should be located and what features they would like to see included so it can be enjoyed for years to come," Mayor Borg said.
Residents can fill out the online survey, download a paper version, or join the Council's Park Pop-Up at Pole Depot Park. This event runs from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
The community consultation closes on Saturday 10 October 2026.
