Grain growers and industry stakeholders are invited to attend a complimentary breakfast forum at the 2026 Henty Machinery Field Days, bringing together grain growers, industry leaders and researchers to discuss key issues impacting grain production across southern New South Wales.
This forum is a joint initiative of NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD), the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and NSW Farmers.
The breakfast forum will provide growers with practical insights, seasonal updates and opportunities to hear directly from leading experts working in grain production systems.
The program will feature presentations from:
- Key drivers of farming systems profitability with NSW DPIRD Research Agronomist, Mathew Dunn
- Cereal diseases update 2026 with NSW DPIRD Cereal Pathologist Brad Baxter
- Canola and pulse diseases in 2026 with NSW DPIRD Pulse and Oilseed Pathologist Dr Kurt Lindbeck.
NSW DPIRD Director Cropping Systems Dr Guy McMullen said the forum is an important opportunity for growers and advisers to access the latest research relevant to their farming businesses.
"The breakfast forum brings together researchers, industry experts and growers to discuss current opportunities and challenges facing grain production in southern NSW," Dr McMullen said.
"Attendees will hear practical information that can assist decision-making for the season ahead while also providing valuable opportunities to connect with experts and industry colleagues."
GRDC Grower Relations Manager Charleton Glenn said the forum was a welcome addition to the Henty Machinery Field Days program.
"The forum brings together GRDC, NSW DPIRD and NSW Farmers to provide growers with access to independent, science-based information and the latest research outcomes," Ms Glenn said.
"It is a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, discuss emerging issues and support informed decision-making across the grains industry."
NSW Farmers President Rebecca Reardon said the forum was an important opportunity to share the latest research outcomes directly with grain growers.
"Farmers are constantly looking for ways to lift productivity, manage risk and make better decisions, and this forum gives them direct access to the latest research and expertise that can help them do exactly that," Ms Reardon said.
"Research delivers the greatest value when farmers can take those findings and put them into practice on farm, so having a platform where growers can hear about the latest work, ask questions and share their own experiences is incredibly valuable.

The complimentary breakfast forum is open to growers, advisers, and agribusiness representatives attending the Henty Machinery Field Days.
The event starts at 8:30am Wednesday 23 September 2026, at the NSW Farmers shed, site 620-621.
