Historic Child Indecency Charges Emerge in Townsville

Detectives from Petrie Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged an 83-year-old Scenic Rim man in relation to alleged historical child sexual assault offences.

It will be alleged the offences relate to one victim child between 1966 and 1972 in the Townsville area.

The 83-year-old man has been charged with 16 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 14.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, August 26.
