HKU Successfully Concludes the Asian Science Camp 2026

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) organised the Asian Science Camp 2026 (ASC 2026 or the Camp) on campus from August 2 to 8, 2026, bringing together over 300 pre-collegiate and college students from nearly 30 countries and regions. In a historic first for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the seven-day programme has now concluded successfully, providing participants with an inspiring week of scientific learning, meaningful cultural exchange, and engagement with world-class experts, among whom were several Nobel Laureates.

A highlight of ASC 2026 was the Opening Ceremony, officiated by Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKU. The ceremony also welcomed over 500 attendees, including senior management from HKU, members of the ASC International Committee, plenary speakers, participating students, distinguished guests from various regions and sectors, and representatives from multiple consulates-general in Hong Kong SAR, underscoring the strong international collaboration behind this landmark programme in the city.

Throughout ASC 2026, students participated in a variety of learning and exchange activities, including plenary lectures, discussions, and hands-on sessions spanning diverse scientific disciplines. Through interactive formats and dialogues with leading scientists, participants deepened their understanding of scientific inquiry, enhanced their research awareness, and built confidence in asking questions that could shape the future of science. Students also had the opportunity to explore Hong Kong and immerse themselves in its rich local culture.

In addition, the Poster Presentation session provided a vital platform for students to showcase their ideas and the insights gained from the lectures. By presenting and engaging in exchanges with peers, mentors, and experts, students demonstrated creativity, scientific rigor, and the collaborative spirit that the Asian Science Camp embodies.

ASC 2026 exemplifies HKU's commitment to nurturing young talents and fostering connections across borders. The successful conclusion of the Camp reaffirms HKU's dedication to promoting academic exchange and innovation, international cooperation, and cultural understanding while inspiring the next generation of global leaders.
