Vinnies WA has received $4.8 million through the 2025-26 State Budget to continue to operate their youth homelessness service, Passages Youth Engagement Hub.
Located on Edward Street, Perth, Passages Youth Engagement Hub supports young people aged 12-25 at risk of experiencing homelessness. The Hub provides access to amenities, support visiting health, legal and financial services, as well as referrals to accommodation and specialist support services.
Passages Youth Engagement Hub plays a crucial role in supporting the State Government's No Wrong Door approach, ensuring people can get help no matter which service or agency they connect with.
This funding supports theimplementation of All Paths Lead to a Home: Western Australia's 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-30, and builds upon the $25 million allocated to youth homelessness services in the 2024-25 State Budget.
As stated by Community Services and Homelessness Minister Matthew Swinbourn:
"Helping Western Australians experiencing homelessness into accommodation is a key priority of the State Government.
"Our $4.8 million funding commitment to Vinnies WA will support young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness by connecting them with services.
"Homelessness Week 2025 is an opportunity to acknowledge the vital work being done by Vinnies WA.
"This year's theme, Homelessness Action Now, is a timely reminder that addressing requires genuine collaboration across all levels of government and the community service sector."
Comments attributed to Vinnies WA Community Specialist Services Executive Manager Chrissie Smith:
"Vinnies WA welcomes this funding from the State Government, which will go towards supporting the crucial services we provide to vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness at our Passages Youth Engagement Hub in Perth.
"This funding now gives us the opportunityto continue our great work with the relaunch of the Compass Program, which delivered fantastic outcomes for at risk young people in the prevention, intervention and crisis space.
"Vinnies WA looks forward to working with other organisations and the Department of Communities so that, together, we can help break the cycle of homelessness for young people."
