Hornsby Shire Council is excited to announce the return of its popular Second Hand Hornsby Market on Sunday 9 November 2025 at Coronation StrEat, just ahead of National Recycling Week.

The market is part of Council's Second Hand Hornsby initiative, which encourages residents to rethink waste and embrace reuse. Since launching, the initiative has helped keep over 4,675 items in circulation and more than $31,000 in the local reuse economy, with 6,500 customers supporting sustainable living.

September's market was the most well attended yet, with 1,075 items sold and $7,369 kept in the local economy – a clear sign that the community is embracing the shift away from throwaway culture.

Building on this success, the upcoming November market offers another opportunity for residents to declutter responsibly and discover pre-loved treasures, from clothing and toys to books, sporting gear and household items.

All 30 stalls were quickly booked out, and Hornsby Shire Mayor Warren Waddell is looking forward to another vibrant day of community connection and conscious consumption.

"The Second Hand Hornsby Market encourages us to rethink how we consume and value everyday items. It's a wonderful chance for the community to make mindful choices, support sustainability, and uncover some unique bargains along the way," said Mayor Waddell.

The market will run from 9am to 1pm on Sunday 9 November in the car park on Coronation Street and in the Coronation StrEat space.

Second Hand Hornsby aligns with Council's Waste Matters Strategy and is part of several initiatives, including Bicycle Repair and Clothes Swap events, to maximise resource recovery and reduce landfill.
