House destroyed, property damaged in suspicious fire - Schofields

An investigation is underway after a house was destroyed and property was damaged by fire in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 7.10pm (Saturday 23 May 2020), emergency services were called to Pelican Road, Schofields, after reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished multiple fires on the property including a house and a number of vehicles. The house, which was unoccupied at the time, was destroyed by the blaze.

A second house on the property was not damaged.

No one was home at the time and no injuries have been reported.

Officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, however, it is being treated as suspicious.
