House fire and weapons offences, Sunnybank

Detectives are appealing for a man who may be able to assist with inquiries in relation to a suspicious fire at Sunnybank on Thursday night to hand himself into police.

Emergency services were called at approximately 9.15pm on April 6, to Lister Street, following reports a property was on fire.

Initial investigations indicate a man has attended the address with a firearm, made threats to a resident known to him and set fire to the dwelling before leaving the scene.

The house was destroyed however no one was physically injured.

Detectives also believe the man is linked to a incident at South Pine Road at Brendale where a firearm was discharged a number of times. This incident occurred at 2.45pm on Thursday. No one was injured in the incident however the firearm was discharged in the vicinity of another man who is known to him.

Around 8.55pm the same man has pointed a gun at two women who had just left a business on Logan Road at Mount Gravatt. The women ran and hid from the man. The man is believed to have discharged the firearm as the women ran away. Both women are known to the man.

Extensive searches have failed to locate the man and investigators are appealing for him to surrender himself into police custody. Police are also urging anyone with further information about these incidents to contact them.

Investigation are ongoing.
