Last week the Australian Tax Office released its 2023/24 Corporate Tax Transparency Report.
That Report showed that JBS Global Meat Holdings Pty Ltd (JBS), the owner of Huon Aquaculture, paid no corporate income tax in 2023/24 despite income of $19.7b.
It has now emerged that the legal head entity of JBS and Huon Aquaculture, Flora Green Pty Ltd, paid $95.4m in corporate income tax in 2023/24.
It is not clear how much of that is As put by JBS, or to Huon Aquaculture.
It is essential that Flora Green Pty Ltd reveal the exact nature of its corporate relationship with JBS and Huon Aquaculture.
Tasmanians who are having their waterways and coastlines polluted by big salmon corporations, or who are appalled at the animal cruelty which underpins factory salmon farming, have a right to fully understand the corporate structures and corporate income tax paid by JBS and Huon Aquaculture.
