In Memory Of Stephan Teglund

It's with deep sadness that we inform you that Stephan Teglund has passed away. He was a valued member of our our team and will be greatly missed by all his co-workers and the wider community at Comparative Medicine. We extend our sincerest condolences to his wife Anna Norrby-Teglund, Professor at Dept of Medicine, Huddinge and his children in this difficult time.

Stephan received his PhD in Sten Hammarström's research group, Umeå University in 1994. This was followed by postdoctoral research at St Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. At Södertörn University, his career took off and he stayed there for about 6 years before being employed at Karolinska Institutet in 2004, in the research group of Rune Toftgård. Since 2012, Stephan has successfully led the Karolinska Center for Transgene Technologies (KCTT). KCTT was established in 2000 through a merger of two then independent transgene units, the EG unit at KI Campus Flemingsberg and the Mouse Camp, campus Solna. In 2011, KCTT was administratively transferred to Comparative Medicine from the previous host departments of Biosciences and Nutrition and Cell and Molecular Biology. Stephan was also instrumental in starting up the Society of Transgenic Research. He was also active in the Swedish Core Facility Network.

As a manager, his staff remembers him as a role model, someone who was always available for support, not only by sharing his extensive professional knowledge but as a friend. He will be truly missed.

Stephan was also an integral part of our daily work life; we will miss the coffee breaks, lunches, and conversations. Stephan leaves a lasting impression that we will stay with us.

Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
