Adventina Delfia Gracia Butarbutar and Lidia Sofia Eirene Butarbutar are two Indonesian sisters studying International Relations in Tomsk State University. Adventina is currently in her third year, while Lidia is in her second year. But at TSU they are known as musicians and vocalists, participants in various creative events. Interestingly, before becoming known for their passion for singing, both sisters were more involved in science, particularly physics, during their high school years.

Although their academic background is unrelated to the arts, their love for music began at an early age. They grew up singing in church and at home, as their father is a pastor. From childhood, they actively participated in church choirs and school music activities. Adventina gave her first performance when she was in the third grade of elementary school, while Lidia first performed in kindergarten, singing Christmas songs such as O Holy Night.
Their musical journey gradually became more serious despite being largely self-taught. Adventina took organ lessons for three months and later performed at church, while Lidia learned to play the recorder and melodica. According to them, their singing and musical abilities were developed through constant practice, a supportive environment, and years of performing.
Their musical experiences became even more meaningful after moving to Russia. Adventina recalled that one of her proudest moments was participating in the International Music Festival "Road to Yalta" 2025, where she was selected as one of 15 participants from different countries and performed alongside talented singers representing their nations. Meanwhile, Lidia highlighted her participation in a singing competition in Moscow as one of her most memorable experiences. The sisters also described their duet performance during Tomsk State University's anniversary celebration as another unforgettable moment.
Balancing academics and music was initially challenging, but both eventually adapted to the demands of university life. They emphasized that maintaining good communication with their lecturers, submitting assignments on time, and fulfilling their academic responsibilities allowed them to continue pursuing music alongside their studies.
Although they have not yet decided whether they will pursue professional careers in music or focus on other fields after graduation, Adventina and Lidia agree that music will always remain an important part of their lives. For the two sisters, education and music are not competing paths, but two passions that complement one another.
