- After 1,200 days of Labor chaos, the Crisafulli Government's 2032 Delivery Plan ensures the Games will deliver a legacy of generational infrastructure.
The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) has today launched the Expression of Interest for a Delivery Partner to support GIICA in providing a broad range of program management services critical for the successful delivery of 2032 Games venues infrastructure program.
Registrations of Interest will also open today for organisations in the design and construction sector to work with GIICA on the delivery of the 17 new and upgraded venues, as outlined in the Crisafulli Government's 2032 Delivery Plan.
After 1,200 days of Labor chaos, the Crisafulli Government is delivering for 2032 and beyond, ensuring the Games deliver a generational infrastructure legacy across Queensland.
Deputy Premier of Queensland and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie made the new announcements as he launched the GIICA Industry Briefing – with more than 1,500 participants - and said today's ROI and EOI were another example of the Crisafulli Government building momentum around Games delivery.
It also follows last week's appointment of a permanent GIICA CEO – Simon Crooks – who will be instrumental in leading of the Games infrastructure outlined in the Crisafulli Government's 2032 Delivery Plan.
Mr Crooks, whose appointment as CEO is effective from today, is widely respected across both industry and Government and is known for his transparent and collaborative approach.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said all of Queensland was behind the push to deliver a winning Games legacy.
"We're getting on with the job of delivering a Games and a legacy that every Queenslander will be proud of for generations to come," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"The Crisafulli Government's landmark agreement with the Federal Government, which was announced in July, has been instrumental as we work towards the delivery of this critical and generational Games infrastructure and the stages of procurement.
"The procurement of a delivery partner is a critical step in delivering venues and getting shovels in the ground on our Games infrastructure program.
"Significant infrastructure projects use a delivery partner model to ensure venues are built on time and on budget and we have no time to waste.
"The 2032 Delivery Plan is in place and now all the players are stepping up to get the job done, that's what we do as Queenslanders and why we will deliver."
GIICA Chairman Stephen Conry said the Industry Briefing and the release of the ROI and EOI represented further important steps on the path forward together as an industry.
"Momentum continues and today's announcements are yet another sign of the acceleration to 2032," Mr Conry said.
"No matter how you cut the numbers, the economic and social benefits of building for the Games and then hosting the event are outstanding.
"Billions of dollars in economic uplift for Queenslanders across tourism, trade and quantifiable social benefits for residents when our city and our state are broadcast into more than 200 countries across the world.
"Then there is the exciting generational infrastructure that will serve as a legacy for many years to come.
"From a sporting perspective alone, more than 50 extra fields of play - courts, fields, pools – will be built for community or high-performance usage through the GIICA Games venue program.
"What an exciting time be part of the construction industry in Queensland."
The ROI will close in 2 weeks and organisations can apply through QTenders or the GIICA website.
The EOI for a GIICA Delivery Partner will close in 2 weeks, with GIICA aiming to have the successful applicant in place by the end of 2025. Again, interested organisations can apply through QTenders or the GIICA website.
