Rockhampton Regional Council has announced that its 2023 musical at the Pilbeam Theatre will be Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods.
One of Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods comically intertwines the plots of several popular fairytales, and explores the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests.

The show will be directed by Joy Philippi, (Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia) and auditions will be held in November.
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities and Heritage Spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson said that after the success of previous musicals he was looking forward to Into the Woods.
"Into the Woods will be a great opportunity for singers, actors, musicians and production team to continue to develop and enhance their craft to an outstandingly professional standard," he said.
Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show with the opportunity to feature performers adept at dark comedy.
