Investing in our innovative advanced manufacturers

Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries

The Tasmanian Government is committed to recognising the achievements our skilled advanced manufacturers and supporting them to grow.

The Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Program (AMAGP) encourages advanced manufacturers to invest in new equipment to support growth into new markets or expand current ones.

Under round 3 of the program, seven Tasmanian enterprises have been awarded grants totalling $619,000 to assist in expanding their manufacturing capabilities to support interstate and international market growth opportunities.

It is anticipated this funding will encourage some $1.72 million in total investment and generate more than 80 new manufacturing jobs within Tasmania.

Today, I was pleased to join successful recipients, Bioflex Nutrition, at their production site at Grove in the Huon Valley.

Bioflex Nutrition will use the $100,000 of funding they have received through round 3 of the AMAGP to assist them with automation processes to ensure continued manufacturing in Tasmania.

Tasmania's advanced manufacturers are some of the best in the world and the manufacturing sector is pivotal to the Tasmanian economy, generating more than $7 billion in turnover a year and employing 18,000 Tasmanians.

Round four of the AMAGP is expected to open in early 2023.
