Jeremy Renner, Jacqueline Bisset to headline Sicily’s Taromina Film Fest

- Sicily’s most glamorous annual film event, the Taromina Film Festival, on Monday, May 16 announced its first round of guests: actors Jeremy Renner, Monica Guerritore and Jacqueline Bisset and Cannes topper Thierry Fremaux, The Hollywood Reporter said.

As previously announced, Richard Gere will serve as honorary president of this year's fest with a night dedicated to the homeless. The festival is set to run June 11-18.

All international guests are expected to participate in master classes or extended Q&As for the people of Taormina. Fremaux is expected to discuss the Lumiere brothers, as in addition to serving as Cannes artistic director, he heads Lyon’s Lumiere Institute. And last year, Gere, who was an honorary guest of the festival, covered a wide variety of topics, from the changing dynamics of the film industry to why he considers himself a socialist.

The festival is set to open June 11 with a special screening of Pixar’s Finding Dory, ahead of its June 17 release in the U.S. The event had a successful launch last year with another Pixar hit, Inside Out.

Other films set to screen include Richard Linklater’s Everyone Wants Something and The Angry Birds Movie.
