Jetstar Launches Bidding for Business Seats at $180

Tuesday, 17 March 2026: Jetstar customers have a brand-new way to takeoff in style for less with the launch of BidCash.

Starting today, the simple new upgrade bidding product lets travellers make a cash bid for a Business Class seat on most of Jetstar's Boeing 787 international flights.

The launch comes as the first of Jetstar's 11 Boeing 787 Dreamliners nears the end of a major interior refit in Hong Kong, with 44 new Business Class seats fitted to the aircraft just last week.

As part of the 787-cabin overhaul, Jetstar is more than doubling capacity in the business cabin in response to growing demand for premium seats on longer-haul flights - giving customers even more choice.

How BidCash works

Bidding for Business using cash on Jetstar is quick and easy and can be completed in a few simple steps.

1. Check your eligibility: eligible customers will receive an email invite to bid, or they can access the BidCash upgrade page directly at jetstar.com

2. Place your bid: customers can use the simple slider to choose their cash bid amount. There will be a minimum and maximum amount per route per person. For example, at the time of launch, on Jetstar's Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City route, minimum bids will start from $180.^

3. Stay tuned: customers will receive an email before they fly notifying them whether their bid has been accepted or not. Successful customers will receive an 'offer successful' email and a new itinerary will be sent.

We are continuing to extend this new and exciting product to Qantas Frequent Flyer members. Coming soon Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to bid for Business Class upgrades using Qantas Points, including a Classic Upgrade Reward style product and a Points Plus Pay offering, which combines Qantas Points and cash.

The new 787 cabin

The timing couldn't be better for customers wanting to bid for Business as the first of Jetstar's refreshed 787s will soon re-enter service. The brand-new business cabin will more than double in size from 21 seats currently to 44.

The cabin will feature all-new seating designed for comfort on longer international routes:

· 38-inch seat pitch and seven-inch recline and 21-inch width

· Six-way adjustable headrest and generous seat cushioning

· Bi-fold in-arm tray tables with cocktail table

· Seat-back device holders with high-power dual USB-C charging points

· Calf and footrests

Business Class passengers on the refreshed aircraft will also enjoy in-flight Wi-Fi and entertainment through Jetstar's deluxe streaming-plus product, offering unlimited access on personal devices at no extra cost.

The cabin upgrade program will be rolled out across the entire 787 fleet over the next two years.

Jetstar's Executive Manager, Customer and Digital Prue McKenzie said Jetstar customers now have a new way to affordably access premium seats.

"Our customers love a good deal and BidCash makes upgrading to Business simple, easy and affordable so they can takeoff more for less.

"With our first refreshed Boeing 787 aircraft entering service in the coming weeks, there's never been a better time to bid your way into Business.

"And soon, Qantas Frequent Flyers will have even more Business upgrade options, including a Classic Rewards product and Points Plus Pay, giving them additional ways to enjoy a Jetstar Business experience."

^ A minimum offer amount is set by Jetstar for you to make a bid. Minimum and maximum bid ranges may vary between flights, including flights on the same routes.
