Work is underway on a new recreational trail network for locals and visitors to enjoy at Albany's renowned Mounts Heritage Precinct, with funding support from the Cook and Albanese Labor Governments.
The Albany Heritage Park Link Trails project delivers on a $3.2 million WA Government election commitment, alongside $3.62 million from the Australian Government's Growing Regions program and extensive support from the City of Albany.
The initiative consolidates existing trails between Mount Adelaide (Irrerup) and Mount Clarence (Corndarup), creating separate spaces for walkers and cyclists.
The trail will feature eight kilometres of single use walking trails, 10 kilometres of family-friendly mountain bike trails and nearly five kilometres of dual use pathways connecting Middleton Beach, the City Centre and the waterfront.
Interpretative signage will be incorporated into the bushland experience, showcasing the location's unique natural, cultural and historical stories.
Careful attention has been given to the network design and implementation to minimise the impact on the environment, backed by extensive community consultation, while about nine hectares of degraded land will be rehabilitated.

"This project will make it easier for people to walk, cycle and explore this beautiful part of Western Australia thanks to our Growing Regions program.
