Sixty new medical and surgical beds at Joondalup Health Campus have been opened, marking the final milestone of the $307.9 million expansion of the Joondalup Health Campus.

The expansion of the site, jointly funded by the Cook Labor Government and the Albanese Labor Government, will boost capacity to care for residents in Perth's growing northern corridor.

The 60 new beds in two wards will be used for a mix of medical and surgical patients.

The wards have been constructed over two levels of the six-storey public ward block, which also includes 46 further public beds, including a 16-bed state-of-the-art Cardiac Care Unit and a 30-bed medical and surgical ward.

Facilities delivered through the total expansion include more emergency department beds, new inpatient beds for medical, surgical, mental health, and cardiac patients, a new theatre, two new interventional catheterisation laboratories, expanded pre and post-operative facilities, a new discharge lounge, additional parking, and expanded supporting facilities.

The multimillion-dollar expansion forms part of the Cook Labor Government's record $5.5 billion health infrastructure program, which is significantly expanding capacity across Western Australia.

As stated by Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:

"Our government's $307.9 million dollar expansion of the Joondalup Health Campus in partnership with Ramsay and the Federal Government has greatly expanded capacity in the northern suburbs.

"This includes these additional 60 beds across two wards.

"We're investing a record $5.5 billion in health infrastructure, building new hospitals and upgrading hospitals across the State."

As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:

"Today marks the completion of the $307.9 million expansion of the Joondalup Health Campus in partnership with Ramsay and the Federal Government.

"These 60 new beds in two brand new wards will be used for medical and surgical patients - helping to deliver increased system-wide capacity this winter.

"It is part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to making sure Western Australians have access to care when and where they need it."

As stated by Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton:

"The two new wards at Joondalup Health Campus will not only benefit the residents of Perth's growing communities in the northern suburbs, but also the wider community going into winter.

"As well as additional hospital beds, this expansion will also create new jobs for healthcare workers in the northern suburbs."
