Businesses along Karinie Street remain open and accessible to customers as reconstruction works continue, with motorists encouraged to follow traffic control directions and detour signage when lane closures are in place.
Karinie Street Road Reconstruction Project is currently progressing through Stages 1 and 2, with stabilisation works well underway. The next major stage will be the application of the bitumen seal.
Council Director of Infrastructure Leah Johnston said while traffic conditions may change throughout the works, every effort is being made to maintain access to local businesses.
"The important message we want people to know is that businesses along Karinie Street remain open.
"As works progress, traffic arrangements will change and there may be periods where a lane is closed. When this happens, motorists should simply follow the detour signs and traffic controller directions - you will still be able to access businesses," Ms Johnston said.
The way access looks may vary depending on where works are taking place. There may also be short intervals where access needs to be temporarily held while construction activities are carried out.
"We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, but we want to reassure the community that local businesses remain open and accessible.
"If you're unsure where to go, our traffic controllers are well informed about the works and are prepared to assist. Please just ask and staff on site will assist you - they can help direct you to the best way to access the business you're visiting," Ms Johnston said.
Motorists are encouraged to allow a little extra time when travelling through the area, follow all traffic control measures and be patient while works are underway.
Council thanks local businesses, customers and the wider community for their patience and support as the Karinie Street reconstruction progresses.
"We acknowledge the inconvenience these works may cause and appreciate the community's patience, with the finished project set to significantly improve the area for everyone," Ms Johnston concluded.
