Karolinska, INAB Cement Academic Partnership

Karolinska Institutet and the Institute of Applied Biosciences (INAB) at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Thessaloniki, Greece, have signed a formal agreement to strengthen and expand their academic cooperation in research, education, and innovation.

The collaboration brings together the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK) at Karolinska Institutet, represented by Professor Rebecka Hultgren , Head of Department, and INAB, represented by director Anastasia Chatzidimitriou. The agreement formalizes a broad partnership that has evolved over many years of joint scientific engagement.

"This agreement reflects more than two decades of close collaboration in cancer research," says Richard Rosenquist Brandell , Professor of Clinical Genetics at MMK.

"We have worked actively together for the last 20 years, and we are now formalizing this partnership to further strengthen our joint research and educational efforts focusing on hematological malignancies", he continues.

The cooperation is built on shared goals of advancing scientific knowledge and fostering academic exchange. Key areas include:

  • Collaboration in undergraduate and postgraduate education
  • Exchange of academic staff and expertise
  • Joint research projects and scientific publications
  • Development of initiatives in clinical and biological data analysis
  • Creation of "living labs" involving patients, clinicians, researchers, and citizens
  • Organization of conferences, workshops, and training programs
  • Joint efforts to secure external research funding
