Katherine Service Station Robberies: Suspects Arrested

Northern Territory Police have arrested 8 youths in relation to a string of aggravated robberies on Service Stations in Katherine that has spanned across multiple days.

Police will allege that between 4April and 8 April 2024, the group of offenders were involved in a crime series targeting a service station along Bicentennial Road and Katherine Terrace multiple times.

Throughout each offending, the group caused significant property damage, stole various items and on occasion one offender was armed with an edged weapon.

Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch and General Duties made the arrests after receiving advice from members of the community.

Four 15-year-olds, a 12 and 14-year-old and two 13-year-old males have been charged with a string of property, theft offences and serious breach of bail.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Ordelman said, "This crime series not only represents a direct threat to the safety and well-being of the individuals working at these service stations, but also instils a sense of fear and insecurity among the community.

"Thanks to the information we received, we were able to successfully apprehend those involved and aim to make further arrests in the near future."

Investigations are ongoing and future charges are expected to be laid on further identified offenders.
