Kilkenny theft suspect arrested, South Australia

A man will face court today charged with the robbery of an elderly man at Kilkenny last week.

About 9.30am on Thursday 29 April, police responded to reports that a man stole cash from the pocket of an elderly man sitting near a bus stop on Torrens Road, Kilkenny and ran off.

It will be alleged a witness chased the suspect through the shopping centre, but stopped when the suspect threatened him with a knife.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Eastern District CIB detectives located the suspect in the CBD on Friday night and arrested him.

The 25-year-old Pennington man was charged with aggravated theft and aggravated assault. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today, Monday 3 May.
