Kingborough Child & Family Learning Centre works to begin

Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

Vos Construction and Joinery has been appointed to deliver the new Kingborough Child and Family Learning Centre, with building works expected to commence this month.

Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the new Kingborough centre, to be co-located on the Kingston Primary School site, was part of a $28 million commitment by the Rockliff Liberal Government to deliver six new Child and Family Learning Centres around the State.

"These centres offer a variety of critical services all in one place to support families with children from birth to age 5 and are part of our Government's commitment to supporting our youngest learners and their parents and carers," Minister Jaensch said.

"Vos will be on the Kingborough site from April 17, which will be a major milestone for the project.

"Once the works are completed, the new Child and Family Learning Centre will be a welcoming place for families with young children in the Kingborough region.

"The new East Tamar centre, which was completed last year, is now operational and supporting families in that region.

"Construction is also expected to be completed in the coming months on the new centres at Waratah-Wynyard and West Ulverstone.

"Works will also begin on the new Sorell centre as part of the redevelopment of Sorell School."

Each of the centres are tailored to their local community, with extensive community consultation undertaken during the development stage playing a key role in the final design and services provided.

The Rockliff Liberal Government is creating a caring community by providing families and their children with the education and health services they need to thrive.
