The Republic of Korea renewed its support and partnership to UNRWA in Jordan, with a contribution of US$ 1 million. This funding will be directed toward the UNRWA Syria, Jordan and Lebanon Emergency Appeal and focus on the restoration of school buildings and the rehabilitation of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Arts (FESA) to enhance the learning environment for students and educational staff.
Director of UNRWA Affairs in Jordan, Olaf Becker, expressed his gratitude, saying: "I am very pleased that we can renew this commitment to supporting Palestine Refugee education with our long-term partner the Republic of Korea. Signing this agreement, marks yet another beacon of hope for a better future for these young refugees! Thank you for your immense support!"
H.E. Mr. Dong-gi Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Jordan, reflecting on the significance of this contribution, commented: "The Korean Government has strengthened its role in helping those in need around the world, and I hope this contribution will be used not just to improve the educational environment for many Palestine refugees in Jordan but to help build their bright future."

- This contribution matches its contribution in 2022, which supported the rehabilitation of UNRWA Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres in Jordan and the modernization of curricula benefiting some 3,000 Palestine Refugee students. Their contributions, totalling US$ 3.7 million in 2023, will continue to substantially impact the initiatives aimed at bettering the lives of Palestine Refugees.
UNRWA is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. Tens of thousands of Palestine refugees who lost their homes and livelihoods due to the 1948 conflict continue to be displaced and in need of support, nearly 75 years on.
UNRWA helps Palestine Refugees achieve their full potential in human development through quality services it provides in education, health care, relief and social services, protection, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.
