The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start and plan for Queensland's future by unveiling its comprehensive plan to reduce red tape for teachers by 25 per cent to unleash kids' full potential and catch-up with national standards.
Released today, the Red Tape Reduction Plan 2025-28 is the biggest change to classrooms in a generation and sets a new direction for state schools, delivering on a key Crisafulli Government election commitment.
Teachers will be relieved of unnecessary red tape and administration under the plan, freeing them to focus on teaching, learning and spending more time in the classroom to help Queensland students catch up, keep up and finish school after the former Labor Government oversaw lagging education standards.
The Crisafulli Government's Red Tape Reduction Plan 2025-28 includes:
Easing administration with upgraded IT systems and improved access to artificial intelligence.
Cutting down on paperwork by having a range of ready-to-go resources including lesson plans, marking guides and editable templates for staff and students – saving teachers' time and reducing repetitive tasks.
An eased workload, allowing teachers more time and focus to improve literacy and numeracy results, giving Queensland children a world class education.
Providing more resources to schools to make recruitment quicker, easier and to help reduce workforce shortages, while attracting and retaining quality teaching staff.
Delivering 140 Workplace Health and Safety Officers in schools to take risk assessments and excessive paperwork off teachers.
Simplified policies and procedures to give teachers and school leaders easier access to relevant information, while school leaders will be better supported to make informed decisions for their local community.
Upgrading OneSchool to make basic tasks quicker and more convenient.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering more resources to schools to make recruitment quicker, easier and to help reduce workforce shortages, while attracting and retaining quality teaching staff.
A decade of decline under Labor left teachers saddled with red tape and students paying the price with lagging education standards.
Developed in consultation with teachers, school leaders and staff during early 2025, the plan aims to reduce red tape and importantly ease Queensland teachers' workload by focusing on nine key priority areas.
Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said the actions to cut red tape would work hand-in-hand with other initiatives to deliver a world-class education to students.
"The Crisafulli Government is reducing red tape for teachers to give them more time in the classroom teaching students," Minister Langbroek said.
"Our plan cuts down on paperwork, improves efficiency and gives them more time to teach.
"A decade of excessive paperwork and bureaucracy under Labor has led to teachers doing more, while students fall behind.
"We're delivering for Queenslanders with our $21.9 billion Education Budget including 15 new schools, more teachers, teacher aides, Workplace Health and Safety Officers and behaviour specialists.
"Our $45 million Behaviour Boost will help tackle behaviour in every state school, while mandatory phonics and numeracy checks will help to lift results sooner.
"We're delivering the fresh start Queenslanders voted for with safer classrooms, more support for teachers and a plan for Queensland's future."
