H.E. Khampheng Douangthongla, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the United Nations in Vienna, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed the Lao People's Democratic Republic's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2026-2033 on 13 March 2026. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
Lao People's Democratic Republic has been an IAEA Member State since 2011. Its 2026-2033 CPF identifies six priority areas:
- Radiation safety
- Food and agriculture
- Health and nutrition
- Water and environment
- Energy and industry
- Nuclear knowledge development and management
