Leanyer Recreation Park confirmed as the location for the Northern Suburbs Youth Hub following community consultation.
The Hub will provide young people a space to connect, build skills and access support with the facility catering up to 60 young people.
It delivers on the Finocchiaro CLP Government's commitment to restoring the Territory lifestyle.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government continues to invest in the future and wellbeing of young Territorians with the announcement of Leanyer Recreation Park as the home for the new Northern Suburbs Youth Hub.
Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality Jinson Charls said the project reflects the CLP Government's commitment to providing young people with safe, structured spaces and positive pathways.
"Following community consultation, families and young people told us they want a space that is safe, active and connected to the facilities they already use and Leanyer delivers that," Mr Charls said.
The Youth Hub will operate activities that are currently ongoing at Sanderson High School and connect seamlessly with the wider Leanyer Recreation Park and its facilities. The Hub will include a large flexible, air‑conditioned activity space, a verandah, kitchen, outdoor activity areas, storage areas, parking and a drop‑off zone, catering for up to 60 young people.
Minister Charls said the Leanyer Youth Hub delivers on an election commitment by the Finocchiaro CLP Government.
"We are proud to announce this new resource at Leanyer that will offer a better venue for our young people keeping them engaged and connected in a central location that is easily accessible by public transport," said Mr Charls.
Member for Wanguri, Oly Carlson said she was excited to see the Hub announced.
"This is such an exciting step forward for young people and families across the northern suburbs. Having the Youth Hub at Leanyer Recreation Park means it will be a place that feels welcoming, active and accessible for everyone." she said.
Member for Casuarina, Khoda Patel echoed her comments "community feedback was clear that Leanyer is the location for the Hub and locating it there is a great decision," he said.
Member for Karama, Brian O'Gallagher, shared: "This has been needed for a long time and this new facility will give youth a safe, vibrant place to connect, learn and grow."
