Flinders University and the National Australia Bank (NAB) have launched a strategic collaboration to enhance the finance, accounting and MBA student experience.

The agreement is a major step forward in bridging real-world industry experience with academic excellence, says Professor Michael Gilding, Vice President and Executive Dean of the College of Business, Government and Law at Flinders University.
"This partnership exemplifies our strategic vision to embed industry collaboration at the heart of our academic mission, enhancing the student experience and shaping a future-ready workforce equipped to lead in a rapidly evolving global economy."
Mr Nick Ward, Director of Corporate Banking at NAB, says: "We are aiming to be much more than the university's corporate banking partner. This collaboration is about co-creating value, sharing expertise, and building a lasting relationship that benefits students, the university, and the broader community."
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will enrich the educational journey of undergraduate, MBA (Master of Business Administration) and Master of Accounting and Finance students through four key initiatives.
LEARNING in the heart of industry: Students and lecturers will gain exclusive access to NAB's state-of-the-art premises to conduct selected MBA and Master of Accounting classes. This opportunity allows students to immerse themselves in a professional environment, fostering networking and offering a first-hand look at the day-to-day workings of a leading financial institution.
INSIGHTS from world-class economists: NAB's globally respected economists will contribute their expertise through special sessions for the MBA, Bachelors, and Master of Accounting and Finance courses. These sessions will provide students with cutting-edge insights into economic trends, financial strategies, and the evolving global market – directly from those shaping the industry.
REAL-WORLD projects and real impact: Through 'live' industry projects, MBA, Bachelors, and Master of Accounting and Finance students will collaborate with NAB teams on real business challenges. This hands-on experience is designed to enhance problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and industry readiness, all while contributing meaningful solutions to real-world issues.
PROFESSIONAL mentorship: A new postgraduate mentoring program across MBA and Master of Accounting and Finance degrees will connect students with experienced NAB professionals in their educational journey. This initiative aims to support students' career development, offering guidance, industry exposure, and a deeper understanding of the professional landscape.
Flinders University Pro Vice Chancellor (Curriculum Impact), Professor Chris Brebner, says: "This exciting partnership demonstrates our commitment to bringing our students authentic experiences with industry, and to connecting our industry partners to our talent pipeline for their skills-ready workforce."
Dean of Business at the College of Business, Government and Law, Associate Professor Angie Shafei, adds: "This partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation, excellence, and the development of future leaders in business and finance.
"By combining academic rigor with practical experience, we are preparing our students for impactful, fulfilling careers," she says.
