Lithgow Halloween Smartphone Film Competition Winners Announced

Lithgow Council

The Lithgow Halloween Smartphone Film Competition was a huge success with entries from all over the world.

The Lithgow Halloween Smartphone Film Competition was an amazing success with 357 films from around Australia and the world submitted for this year's event. The COVID pandemic didn't 'lockdown' the flow of film makers creative juices.

From Japan there was the film LOOP that was completely shot, performed, and developed by Akihiro Ohkawa, a fantastic effort and winner of the 'Most Creative' film.

Part of the Lithgow Halloween Digital program included a free film making workshop conducted by Angela Blake from SF3. One of the students, 12-year-old Indianna Thompson, created her first ever film and entered the competition winning the 'Best Youth' film. Keep your eye out for Indianna on the Red Carpet in Hollywood in a few years' time.

The 'Best Performance' and 'People Choice' were awarded to the film Midnight from Romania. It was a difficult choice for the judges to select the winners as all the finalists were outstanding.

Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson said "What a fantastic effort during a very difficult time. It's wonderful to see that Lithgow Halloween is breaking new ground and was able to provide opportunities for creative young people during this time. I can't wait for the event to be back on the street next year for Lithgow Halloween 2022."
