La Bohème and The Gypsies, a special Emerge Festival concert, showcases phenomenal emerging Australian vocal talent with flutist artistic director Jane Rutter as their leader.

Australia is world-renowned for producing world-class vocalists. Joining Jane are Pacific Opera rising stars sopranos Kirralee Hillier and Libby Cooper, baritone Nick Geddes and tenor Daniel Verschuer. Accompanied by acclaimed pianist, John Martin, the concert repertoire includes gypsy-themed classics from Bizet's Carmen, Fiddler on the Roof, The Gypsy Baron by Strauss, Giuditta, Gypsy Love by Lehàr, and Puccini's La Bohème.

The spotlight on emerging vocal talent and the superb repertoire is a tribute to the contribution of Live at Lunch patron, legendary conductor Maestro Richard Bonynge, who was instrumental in developing the sublime voice of his wife, Dame Joan Sutherland, and in promoting many operas loved by present day audiences.

Mr Bonynge said he was delighted to be a patron of Live at Lunch.

"As a life-long champion of young opera stars, I'm thrilled this concert showcases this marvellous quartet of emerging soloists and provides an opportunity for these young singers to be inspired by Jane Rutter's musicianship, enthusiasm and expertise."

The concert is the fifth in a six-part Live at Lunch 2022 concert series. With gypsies, love and passion as the theme, it's a spectacular springtime concert not to be missed!

As Live at Lunch enters its 10th year of fine music, audience members continue to delight in joining Jane and the performers for lunch after each concert.

Live at Lunch Artistic Director, Jane Rutter is an internationally acclaimed concert soloist with a spectacular career that spans decades. Her sublime Belcanto flute playing has led to 24 best-selling albums, one recorded with Maestro Bonynge. Jane was knighted by France (Chevalier des Arts et Lettres - Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) for her contribution to music.

The Live at Lunch concert series has provided fine music of the highest calibre, fostering social inclusion with a lunchtime setting, to the Greater Sydney region for the past decade. Jane Rutter has been Artistic Director of the series since its inception in 2013.

With performances in the superb Concert Hall of The Concourse, Chatswood, Sydney, Live at Lunch is an Australian success story.
