Local architects set to design modern performing arts space for Goldfields school

  • H+H Architects selected to design $500,000 upgrade to Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School's performing arts space
  • The new centre will provide opportunities for more than 800 students from Years 7-12
  • Construction expected to start in early 2021
  • Goldfields based firm H+H Architects has been chosen to design the revamp of the performing arts space at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School.

The $500,000 upgrade to the existing facility will give the school's 835 current students the opportunity to hone their drama skills in a fresh and modern learning area.

The renovations will include an upgrade to the performance space, green room, costume store and bio-box for lighting, sound and projection equipment.

With the project now in the planning stage, work is expected to start in early 2021 and be completed by the middle of the year.

The project is part of the McGowan Government's $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

"This modern and refreshed performing arts space will give students an outstanding venue to encourage their creative skills to thrive.

"I know this upgraded learning area will help Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School's many talented students now and in the future."

As stated by Mining and Pastoral Region MLC Kyle McGinn:

"I am very pleased to see a local Kalgoorlie-Boulder firm has been awarded this tender.

"Goldfields kids deserve top quality schooling experiences and this new performing arts centre will deliver the stars of tomorrow."
