Local media cover COVID-19 research funding

To combat COVID-19, the University of Cincinnati and the UC College of Medicine have awarded 11 pilot grants, totalling $425,000, to researchers across campuses and disciplines.

"We have 11 pilot projects funded, and each project has a team of some sort," says Dr. Brett Kissela, Albert Barnes Voorheis chair and professor of the UC Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine, senior associate dean for clinical research at the UC College of Medicine and a UC Health physcian. "We have multiple clinical trials we are working to start."

He, along with Melanie Cushion, senior associate dean for research at the UC College of Medicine and professor in UC's Department of Internal Medicine, led the call for submissions through the Special Coronavirus (COVID-19) Research Pilot Grant Program.
