Logan Police Liaison Officers Tial Hlawnching and Maria Fakahau started the Logan Police Cross Cultural Engagement Program 18 months ago as a way to break down barriers between different cultures and bridge the gap between the community and police.

The free program is a way for Logan's young people, aged between 12 to 25 to come together and play volleyball.

Tial and Maria started with about 20 to 30 young people.

Now Tial and Maria are referees for about 60-70 young volleyball enthusiasts from many different cultural backgrounds coming every week!

The Logan CCLU are overjoyed at the enthusiastic response.

Tial has said the program is so popular he is hoping to secure a third court!

The program is held at Logan Metro Sport Centre (Crestmead) every Wednesday afternoon, including school holidays.

Any young person between the ages of 12-25 can sign up and join.
